Are you ready for a journey through time in the historic streets of Istanbul? Our walking tour takes us through the historic hans in the heart of Fatih, each with its own story adding depth to our journey. Our starting point is Zindan Han, a structure that, as its name suggests, exudes a mysterious aura, having served as a place where prisoners and valuable goods were held many years ago. Its stone craftsmanship and thick walls stand like a monument bearing the traces of time.

As we exit Zindan Han, just a few steps ahead lies Çukur Han. This han emerges as a flexible structure used for various trading activities throughout history. In its courtyard, one can see old packaging fragments and stone carvings leaning against the walls; these details show that the han was not just a temporary storage area but also a center for production and distribution. Architecturally quite striking, Çukur Han, while more compact compared to other hans in Fatih, is rich in historical value.

Continuing our walk, other important stops like Yeni Han and Balkapan Han await us. Yeni Han, despite being newly constructed as its name suggests, preserves the essence of Ottoman architecture and today is used for workshops and shops. Our final stop, Balkapan Han, is known as one of the most active trading centers throughout history. Especially significant in the textile and fabric trade, this han remains quite active today, with similar businesses continuing. In its large courtyard, old packaging drums and carts are still visible; this shows that the han is not just a historical value but also a living trading center.

This walking route does not just pass between stone and mortar; it also offers an opportunity to delve into the depths of time, feel the pulse of the Ottoman economy, and understand that these hans were not just storage areas but also centers of culture, art, and life. At every step, it is possible to feel the traces of merchants, artists, and artisans who passed through here decades ago. In this special corner of Fatih, history does not just live in books but beneath every stone, in every courtyard, and under every doorway.
