August's last quarter sees Istanbul start breathing in the evenings, shedding the weary heat of the days. The Bosphorus' bright blue water, cloaked in golden and pink tones as the setting sun descends, turns the city's silhouette into a picture frame. The most valuable ritual during these transition hours is to find the right spot and watch the city's daily show.

For those precious minutes between darkness and light, the tranquil shores of the Anatolian side, the light trails followed by boats passing under the Bosphorus bridges, and the minarets of the historic peninsula create a unique composition. Üsküdar'ın tarihi iskele önü ve çevresindeki çay bahçeleri have become classic stops for those who wish to pair this view with a cup of tea. The sea breezes, together with fountains and külliyes that carry traces of the past, add depth to this scenery.

If you wish to view the scenery from a slightly higher perspective, within a historic setting, the area around the Horhor Fountain, located just behind Üsküdar İskelesi'nin, offers an ideal escape point. This baroque‑style fountain, dating to the late 18th century, provides both a historic atmosphere and a panoramic view of the Bosphorus'in under the shade of the massive plane trees surrounding it. As the sunset light plays on the fountain’s marble details, the illuminated Bosphorus view in front showcases the city's most iconic silhouettes.

Starting with an evening walk, taking a break at one of the tea gardens, and watching the view until the last lights fade; this is Istanbul's most enjoyable and cost‑free luxury during the summer months. Each step on this route whispers a different facet of the city, a different story.
